The 2011 recipient of the Allyson Rioux Memorial Award is Chelsea Sciarretta, a senior at Stamford High School. Chelsea is a two sport athlete and Captain of her Field Hockey and Softball teams. She spends her summers playing softball with a highly competitive travel program and enjoys competing at the highest level.
Chelsea is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the National Art Honor Society. She is also Sports Editor of the Stamford High School Yearbook. As stated by one of her coaches, “Chelsea strives for excellence in every aspect of her life”.
When Chelsea is not playing a sport, writing about a sport or studying for one of her honors or AP classes, she can be found coaching in the Upstart Division of the Stamford Youth Basketball league.
Chelsea is an integral part of the Field Hockey and Softball programs at Stamford High School. In the letters of recommendation from her coaches, she was described as “one of the most respectful, dependable, hard working and cooperative athletes that I have ever had the pleasure to come in contact with”. She had a very successful senior year on the field hockey turf where she was one of the best players on any given day.
It was also written, “Chelsea epitomizes leadership, athleticism and toughness all in one. She is the quintessential lead by example captain and a high character person who represents what the Allyson Rioux award stands for.”
Chelsea is deciding between St. John’s University and UCONN to begin the next phase of her education.
Chelsea will be honored at our Celebration Dinner on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 6:30pm - 9:30pm at the Italian Center in Stamford. Tickets are still available for this event. Adults: $65.00 High School age and younger: $25.00
