2012 Beneficiary - The Santana Family

We are pleased to announce our final Beneficiary for the 2012 Allyson Rioux Memorial Foundation:


The Santana Family:


The Santana family, Amir (3), Jada (10), and their mother, Clara, have resided in Stamford for the last decade. Amir was born at Stamford Hospital and diagnosed at birth with a rare genetic disorder, Granulomatous Disease, that reduces his ability to fight any infection. He is currently hospitalized in Maryland, is receiving chemotherapy, and is awaiting a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Due to Amir’s need for constant medical care, Amir’s mother is unable to work, which compounds the financial burden.

2012 Beneficiary - Carol Gallagher

We are pleased to announce our second of three Beneficiaries for the 2012 Allyson Rioux Memorial Foundation.

Carol Gallagher

Carol is a native of Stamford.  She was born with two holes in her heart that required open heart surgery, including a blood transfusion, at the age of 5.  From that transfusion, Carol contracted Hepatitis C that went undetected for years, until medical symptoms helped doctors identify her disease.  By then however, severe liver damage had occurred and Carol is currently on the waiting list for a liver transplant.

2012 Beneficiary - The Sprouse Family

We are pleased to announce the first of three Beneficiaries for the 2012 Allyson Rioux Memorial Foundation.

The Sprouse family:

The Sprouse family – Stew, Lisa and Celia (16) – have lived in Stamford all their lives. Stew was laid off from his job at Sikorsky Aircraft in July 2011. Two weeks later, Lisa was diagnosed with Stage IIIB Rectal Cancer, has had numerous surgeries, and has been in treatment for six of the 12 months she will need. On New Year’s day, their daughter Celia was involved in a tragic car accident from which she lost her best friend and suffered multiple injuries, the worst of which was a traumatic brain injury. Extensive rehabilitation is underway with a long road toward recovery.
